"Okay, thanks."

"You welcome Liam. I'll give you a call as soon as I get some information, K!"

"Sure, in fact how about I give you a call; say something in the next week."

"Okay."

... the next week ...

"Hi there Tash, it's me Liam."

"Oh hi, how you doing?"

"I am good. But hey, you know what? I was just thinking, I just started my Masters and I am required to do some volunteer work, would you be able to find me something to do in your office?"

"At this time, I doubt that we need any volunteers. I'll double check that and get back to you."

"Sure Tash. Thanks!"

I hang up and find that I am smiling and not sure why. Liam is a client of mine. At my job, we sorta help people find employment in their professional areas. I have met with Liam, done his profile and initial intake and currently finding ways to place him. He hadn't told me he wanted to do a Masters, but this is good any which way.

It's been a week and I call him back.

"Hi Liam, Tash."

"Heyy what's up? You got good news for me?"

"Well, yeah. Some good and some not so good.  Uhmm, unfortunately, right now there are no openings for volunteers here at my office. I have however been able to find you a placement. This is not a paid placement but there is a good chance for a hire at the end of your placement."

"Tash" I hear, almost like a whisper - a sad whisper.

"Liam, you there?"

"Oh yeah Tash. You sure there is nothing I can do at your office? "

"For right now, nothing."

"Ok tell you what! let me do your reports. Let me do your mails; let me bring your clients in to your office. I'll save you that walk to the reception. God knows you work hard enough."

I am smiling and I say "Liam!" In a voice I almost did not recognize, and i hear the voice in my head say "Cut that out Tash"

"Ok Ok ... when does my placement start Tash?"

"Monday December 1st. Did you wanna start after the holidays ... I mean after the New Year? I could arrange that you start in January."

"Naa that's ok. I'll start Monday. Are you there later today? I still have to bring in some of my papers/documents."

"Sure, I'll be here."

I hang up and I am smiling again. I decide to talk my boss into having Liam. I like Liam. He makes me laugh, amongst other things. The voice in my head is yelling," DO NOT TALK YOUR BOSS INTO ANYTHING - Place Liam and leave it alone" ... but I am not listening.

About Liam ...

Liam is tall, maybe 7'5" and a qtr. Just kidding J he is prolly 6'3" or something. Hey!! I never asked him, so I am just guessing really. But I may ask him today.

{

"Hey! By the way Liam, how tall are you?"

"Sorry!"

Yeah, I am gonna do that? NOPE. He is gonna know I like him cos why else would I be asking?

So NO!

}

Back to Liam,

He is a little imposing - his physique ... has resonance in his voice and the charm and good looks of an ‘eye-candy' or ‘celebrity show' contest winner. He looks like he should be on "The Bachelor"

One of the times that Liam was in my office, I introduced Soph to him. She immediately forgot to breathe. Crazy Soph. She had that smile that said plenty. Crazy Soph, yup, that's what she is. I can see her now, say, "Darn you look good" so I said a little prayer. I did not wanna be embarrassed.

They said the usual hellos and she left. Anyhow, for a few days after and every now and then, Soph would ask;

"Tash, where's your friend?"

"He's not my friend Soph, he is my client."

"Uh -huh!!" she replies smiling and nodding like she knows stuff, y'know, like she has the scoop on something.

"In that case, can he be my friend?" she continues.

"Shut up!"

This is conversation we have periodically now.

Liam is that kinda guy. The kind that that you like. He exudes very good vibes and has great charisma and en plus, he looks good (not that this matters) J

OK ... going to talk to my boss now. Keep your fingers crossed!
